Violation against the rules may result in DISQUALIFICATION from the competition.
General Rules
Choir
Each choir can participate in:
- A maximum of 1 age-based category (C0, C1, C2, M1 or M2)
- A maximum of 3 non-age-based category (F, R, and P)
Each choir will have 10 minutes of stage rehearsal time, for each category they participated in.
Example :
Choir A participate in category C1 and F. Therefore choir A will receive 20 minutes of stage rehearsal time (2 category x 10 minutes)
Conductor
Each choir may choose their conductor freely without any age or gender limitation. Each conductor may only conduct 1 choir in the same category. A choir must have no more than 2 conductors.
Singers
Please read carefully regarding the age limit in each category. Each singer can only perform for 1 choir in the same category. The number of singers should refer to the rules of each category.
Accompanists / Musicians
Each choir may choose their accompanists freely. The number of accompanists is unlimited unless stated otherwise in the category description. Accompanists / Musicians may perform for more than 1 choir in the same category. The committee will only provide a Grand Piano (A = 442 Hz) on stage; other accoustic instruments are sole responsibility from the participants. Please note that NO AMPLIFICATION / ELECTRIC INSTRUMENTS ARE ALLOWED.
Qualifications
Qualifications will be done by the artistic panel based on the submitted recording. Submitted recordings must be performed in 2024 or later, with no restriction upon the selection of pieces. The recording must be a live recording (not recorded in a studio). The artistic panel hold the rights to ask for more recordings if the recording sent by the participant deemed insuffficient.
Repertoire & Music Scores
Please read carefully the requirements of the repertoire in each category. The repertoire for each category must be different. Participants must submit the digital music scores in PDF file format. Each participant is responsible for the authorization and copyright of the songs sung in this festival. The committee will ask for the receipt of purchase, or the authorization letter from the composer for non-public domain pieces. The scores must conform to internationally recognized sheet music standards (five lines staff). Pieces with accompaniments should have the accompaniment completely written, unless if it’s a non-definite pitch accompaniment.
Performance
Participants may freely choose the ordering of the pieces. Except for the Grand Champion Competition, the performance time is the duration from the sounding of the first tone until the last note is sounded, including the pauses between songs. If the participant breaches under / over the time limit, the total score will be reduced by 1 point for every 60 seconds.
For the Grand Champion Competition, the performance time is pure singing time (excluding the pauses between songs). If the participant exceeds the time limit in the Grand Champion Competition, the participant will be disqualified.
Repetition
Participant may not stop / repeat the performance during the competition, unless required by the jurors / artistic panel.
